Peter Newton
Peter Newton joined IFRI in January 2012 as a postdoctoral research fellow. He was based at the University of Michigan until December 2014, coordinating and conducting research on various projects with IFRI and its collaborators, including a CCAFS project on the governance of forest-agriculture landscapes, and a World Bank project on community forest management and REDD+.
Currently, Pete is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. His degrees are from the UK, from the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia. He is an interdisciplinary scientist with an interest in offs between environmental, economic, and social outcomes in socio environmental systems. He works principally in agricultural and tropical forest landscapes, mainly in Brazil but also with partners in Indonesia and elsewhere.
