...exploring how people shape the world's forests

Funders

IFRI is reliant on generous financial support that enables it to collect valuable data on community forests across the tropics. Individual collaborating research centers (CRCs) are financially independent, though may apply for joint funding on projects that involve collaborations between two or more CRCs. Funded projects that use IFRI protocols often generate larger-than-usual gains, in the sense that data are useful both to address local conservation and development issues and to feed into a large, long-term database.

A list of previous funders can be found on our ‘Funders and Partners‘ page, though individual CRCs have also received support from other foundations, NGOs and government agencies.

Any individual or organization interested in supporting IFRI or a CRC should contact either ifri@umich.edu or personnel listed at a particular CRC.
