March 11th, 2015: Planning Workshop for FLARE

Planning Workshop: Forests & Livelihoods: Assessment, Research, Engagement (FLARE)

As an extension of the DFID research project, IFRI is holding a planning workshop for a new Community of Practice, Forests & Livelihoods: Assessment, Research, Engagement (FLARE) on March 11th in Washington D.C.

This meeting will bring together twenty researchers and practitioners working on sustainable forestry and livelihoods in order to discuss the aims, targets, and outputs of the FLARE. This meeting will directly influence the FLARE launch Conference, which is scheduled for the weekend prior to the UNFCCC COP 21 in Paris in December.

Read about the outcomes of the planning meeting.

A call for abstracts for the Paris meeting will be announced in the coming weeks.

The goals of the FLARE are to (a) share and advance cutting edge knowledge and conversations on forest-based livelihoods, (b) generate usable information, create applications for gathering such information, and develop methodological products of use to those interested in the subject, (c) work towards broader adoption of the identified indicators, products, and findings of the group, and (d) help shape an effective strategy to achieve impact beyond specific monitoring efforts undertaken by participants in the CoP.
