...exploring how people shape the world's forests

IFRI Presents at the Global Landscapes Forum in Warsaw

IFRI researchers will present ‘Managing landscapes for food, fuel, fiber and forests: innovative approaches in a time of food insecurity and climate change’ on Saturday, November 16 as part of the Global Landscapes Forum in Warsaw.

Increasing production of food, fuel and fiber, in response to growing global demand, frequently has negative consequences for forests. The challenge of effectively managing landscapes to increase production while conserving forests is exemplified in Brazil – production of cattle, biofuels and soy are soaring, as is pressure to conserve remaining forests for their high carbon and biodiversity values. This session aims to engage participants to explore how cross-sectoral multi-stakeholder engagement and innovative governance solutions can contribute to meeting these challenges.
