IFRI meeting on forest socio-ecological systems at SESYNC

Members of IFRI met at SESYNC in Annapolis, Maryland on June 18-19 for the first in three Venture Meetings on ‘Research on Forest Social Ecological Systems for Actionable Science’. Nine IFRI researchers and practitioners spent two days discussing innovative strategies for developing IFRI’s scope and impact – including the possibilities of a more streamlined set of data-collection instruments that would appeal to a broader set of partners, and a web-based data-entry system for more efficient data management.

SESYNC is a perfect venue and context in which to discuss the interdisciplinary methods and broad ambitions of the IFRI network. The next Venture meeting, to be held in October, will include representatives from all of the network’s CRCs, as well from a number of organizations with whom IFRI hopes to be able to partner and collaborate in the near term.

Many thanks to SESYNC for the opportunity to visit, and we look forward to returning in October.
