...exploring how people shape the world's forests

Annual IFRI course fieldwork experience

The annual IFRI class is in full swing at the University of Michigan. The 20 students in the class have been learning about IFRI research and its associated methods for collecting ecological, socioeconomic and institutional data. Over the last three weeks, they put some of this learning into practice, conducting vegetation surveys and semi-structured interviews during field trips to a local forest area.

The fieldwork took place in the Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor, Michigan. and where students took some time to enjoy the beautiful fall day in between data collection.
